Africa Climate Week and Africa Climate Summit
The government of Kenya will co-host two parallel events in Nairobi in early September: the Africa Climate Summit (4-6 September) and Africa Climate Week 2023 (September 4-8)
Africa Climate Week
Africa Climate Week is one of four Regional Climate Weeks that will be held this year to build momentum ahead of the UN Climate Change Conference COP28 in Dubai and the conclusion of the first global stocktake, designed to chart the way for fulfilling the Paris Agreement’s key goals. It provides a platform for the continent’s policymakers, practitioners, businesses and civil society to come together in advance of COP28, to exchange on climate solutions, barriers to overcome and opportunities realized in different regions. Africa Climate Summit
The Africa Climate Summit, co-hosted by Kenya with the African Union Commission (AUC), will bring together leaders from Africa and beyond; development partners; intergovernmental organisations; private sector; academia; civil society organisations; women and youth to design and catalyse actions and solutions for climate change in Africa by providing a platform to deliberate on the nexus between climate change, Africa’s development reality, and the need to push for increased investment in climate action globally, and specifically in Africa.
